 "Amazing phone..." 2009-11-30
By J. Gibson (UK)
My old phone got water in it so I needed a new one, I wanted a new phone but I didn't want to spend a lot. I looked on the vodafone website and saw this phone it was one of the cheapest and it had some good reviews but it was cheaper here!

The phone has good sound quality and is quite easy to use. It comes with head phones which are very good quality (mine went in the washing machine and still work)It only takes 1gb micro sd cards - I would recomend getting one of these if you want to store lot's of music, photos ect.

Positives - Good sound

- Cheap

- Simple

Negatives - The batary life dosen't last long if you listen to music!

 "VF527 (Sagem) on Vodafone" 2009-10-25
By R. Avery (Essex, United Kingdom,)
Before anything else this phone cost less than £20 on PAYG. That goes a long way to the 4 stars. I actually bought it to replace a top end handset that died on me as part of a good contract deal running well into 2010, I had opted against insurance. So, that sets the scene. I wanted to see if a cheap as chips phone was "good enough". In summary, for me, a resounding YES. There are some draw backs though that might trouble some more than others, especially camera and contacts. It is basic if you are used to a top phone, it has all the features but they run a bit clunky. Think of where a top phone was 5 or 6 years ago and that's about it. It is slow at times when turning through the menus. You need to supply your own MicroSD card (ok, that's only a fiver of Amazon for 1GB). There is no out of the box synching to PC, other than Bluetooth, which incidentally is excellent. You can buy a VF527 USB cable but Vodafone don't stock it - it's an easy find on Google Shopping. Once you have the cable the phone very cleverly auto installs backup/restore and basic PC synch software that is light touch and easy to use. Note, I could not get this to work on a 64bit PC running Vista but its fine on 32bit Vista and also XP. Two key issues. Firstly, the VGA camera is shockingly poor. If I really needed a camera in my phone I would have a problem. Secondly, the contacts. Each contact is the original basic SIM compliant name, number for even onboard contacts. So for example if you have a landline and a mobile for someone you have to create two contacts. Those of us that have been using mobiles beyond 6 or 7 years will remember this on older sets. A final downside is battery life which is not great. However, for the money I frankly think t is remarkable. Just 18 months ago £20 would have only got you a phone that made calls and sent texts with no additional features. Positives I want to mention are design, weight, ease of operation. If you want a phone that does the basics as well as anything else (calls and texs) and has a multitude of other features which are fine for now and then use and would prefer to not spend much then this works. (As a note, unless like me you want a thin candy bar phone, look at the VF533 which is a thicker form slider that is very similar to use but "has more oomph". It's faster, the graphics better and the camera a reasonable 1.3mp, my Daughter has this phone - £30)

 "Excellent value for money" 2009-07-14

I got this for my wife as she isn't too keen on the latest gadgets. Just having a camera in it put her off somewhat.

However, I'm pleased to report that it's very user friendly. Had it up and running in no time at all.

Easy to use for non power users, straightforward menu options, and nice tactile feel to it.

I think some phone companies don't realise that lots of users don't want loads of options, and just want the important ones easily accessible. (this phone was replacing an old Motorola, which was absolutely woeful for useability).

Bluetooth was a breeze to get working too, with a nice auto switch off after 3 minutes feature, I got it transferring photos from my Mac (for use as wallpaper/screensaver) in seconds.

Screen is clear enough, and the phone has a nice weight to it.

I dropped a star off the ratings, because, as another reviewer says, phone book needs multiple entries for multiple numbers. I found that annoying, but I think some people do actually prefer a different entry anyway.

All in all, a bargain - highly recommended for anyone who wants a nice, easy to use phone, without extra bells and whistles.

"Ok for a basic phone" 2009-04-19

For a basic phone this is ok. Accessories are limited and does not connect to a MAC.
